Final Fantasy VII Remake Delayed Till April!

The long-awaited first episode of the Final Fantasy VII Remake is delayed till April 10th, 2020. Square Enix Producer Yoshinori Kitase made the announcement this morning on the company’s official blog. The game was previously scheduled to release March 3rd, 2020.

“We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.”

Initially announced during Sony’s E3 2015 press conference, the remake was being handeled by developer CyberConnect2, which is known for their work with the Naruto series of games. Since 2017, production was brought in-house. Although Kitase says his team needs a little more time to bring it over the finish line.

“We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.”

As of right now there is still no release window for the game’s second episode. Final Fantasy VII Remake was previously announced a PlayStation 4 exclusive title until March 3rd, 2021. We here at Video Game Depot are reaching out to Square Enix to see if that date will be pushed back and to bring you all the latest in gaming!

“Thank you for your patience and continued support”
