Halo the TV Series Finally Finds a New Streaming Home?

Paramount’s Halo TV series, starring Pablo Schreiber, will be landing on a new streaming platform next month. After years of being a Paramount+ exclusive, the military sci-fi drama has found a new home on Netflix, allowing viewers to catch both seasons on the streaming giant. It was reported that Halo on Netflix will be available to viewers in the U.S. and other international territories, and that the series will still be accessible to stream on Paramount.

Halo found success when it was first released, receiving high praise from critics and being well-received by fans. But, unfortunately, it was canceled after 17 episodes. The first season started on a rough note in 2022, earning a 70% critics score and a 52% audience score. But things improved in Season 2 in 2024, generating a 90% critics’ score and a 68% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the series faced controversy following a sex scene, which has conflicted not just fans, but also the cast and crew. In July 2024, it was announced that Halo was cancelled, leaving fans hanging as Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger.

Halo is a TV series based on the hit first-person shooter video game of the same name, developed by Bungie and Halo Studios. The series follows Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, played by Schreiber, and takes place during the Human-Covenant war. Also starring in this series are Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, and Natascha McElhone.

There Were Other Video Games Adapted Into TV Shows?

Halo isn’t the only video game that was given its own TV series. As video games continue to gain popularity, Hollywood has been eager to adapt these stories for a wider audience. One of the early examples of video games entering television is the Pokémon franchise. The original anime ran for over 20 years, telling the story of Ash Ketchum as he explores every region to become a Pokémon master.

There is also HBO’s The Last of Us, which premiered in 2023, retelling the story of Joel and Ellie as they navigate a post-apocalyptic society following the Cordyceps Outbreak. Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the show has released two seasons, with a third one on the way.

Lastly, there are other titles like Arcane, based on the MOBA game League of Legends; Prime Video’s Fallout; and the anthology series Secret Level, which created an original story based on popular IP and was very well received by fans and critics alike.

Halo enters Netflix on October 1, 2025. Follow Video Game Depot to keep up to date with the latest updates.
