Borderlands 4 is finally to arriving in just a few days on September 12 for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PC and it’s bringing back all of the brilliant and bonkers fun that has made the series so iconic.
If you’re thinking about jumping into the game on either PC or Xbox, there’s a new controller on the way that really does complete the whole package, and it’s one of the coolest officially licensed products yet for this series!
PowerA’s brand new Borderlands Special Edition Wireless Controller launches on the same day as the main game and retails for $99.99 in North America (though third-party sellers like eBay have the controller available for a variety of prices).
The design on the controller is themed around The Timekeeper, the new game’s main antagonist, who rules over the planet Kairos with his faction, The Order. The most obvious thing to say is that it looks great, and the addition of some classic pieces of Borderlands iconography, including the spray paint logo.

It’s not all aesthetics though, and the controller is packing some mighty impressive details under the hood. The list of features provided by PowerA includes:
- USB 2.4GHz wireless for Xbox and PC
- Rubberized grips
- Hall Effect Sticks
- Four remappable back buttons
- Hall Effect Impulse Triggers
- Trigger locks with three stopping points
- Profiles button: Stores three custom control profiles
- Map AGB button: Remap back buttons on the fly
- Official Xbox menu buttons: Profile, Share, View, Menu, Guide
- Up to 30 hours of battery life
- 10-foot USB-C charging cable (also for wired play)
- Volume dial for wired headset
- Dual rumble motors
- Customize settings with PowerA Gamer HQ App
- Button mapping
- Trigger and stick sensitivity
- Dead zones
- Rumble intensity
- Audio
The company has been on a solid run with their officially licensed controllers in recent times, and this latest offering is much more akin to the Elite series of official Xbox controllers, than it is to the standard range. It’s also a fair bit cheaper than the Elite Series 2, which now retails for $199.99 in the US.
If Borderlands 4 isn’t of particular interest, the company also sells officially licensed controllers for other games, including Fortnite and even Pac-Man, for the more nostalgic players out there.
Why wait for launch day to come around when the controller will be available from all major tech retailers in North America, including Amazon, you can pre-order yours now and secure one for yourself before launch, you will still be getting it on launch or shipped to you on launch, in-store & online respectively.
